The Vinton County Convention and Visitors Bureau is a private 501(c)(6) nonprofit corporation established for the public purpose of promoting the economic development of Vinton County’s tourism industry. The VCCVB serves as the first point of contact for leisure travelers, special event planners, and tour operators. Marketing, advertising, and promotional efforts are focused regionally, statewide, and in strategic areas of neighboring states to attract new dollars and new business, which results in a positive impact on economic development. The VCCVB hosts signature events like the Midnight at Moonville Festival and sponsors tourism development projects like the Vinton County Park District and its parks. Additionally, the organization is in the early stages of planning vacation rentals at Hotel McArthur and Shea Farmhouse that will fund additional staff positions.
Mission Statement: The Vinton County Convention and Visitors Bureau will improve economic vitality in Vinton County by developing and promoting its growing tourism industry.
Vision Statement: The Vinton County Convention and Visitor Bureau will seek to be a leader within the Hocking Hills Region by developing and marketing Vinton County as an authentic and affordable tourist destination.
This will be posted as a full-time position. The position primarily involves developing plans to increase tourism to Vinton County and finding a strategy to incorporate Hocking Hills within the plan. The Ideal candidate will be an experienced professional with a passion for the job, along with a passion for the community. The ability to employ unique marketing techniques. The ideal candidate shall also be a skilled marketing strategist with the end goal to increase tourism in Vinton County.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with the CVB board to strategize and implement impactful tourism promotion programs.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing plan to establish Vinton County as a tourism leader within the Hocking Hills area.
- Leverage research and grant-writing expertise to support ongoing and future projects, contributing to the area’s development.
- Exercise budget management skills while overseeing creative messaging and marketing publications.
- Drive the design of cutting-edge advertising strategies aimed at expanding Vinton County’s leisure travel market share.
- Foster partnerships with regional tourism-based publications and stakeholders to amplify promotional efforts.
- Champion local attractions and community events, contributing to an enriched visitor experience.
- Curate web content and compile annual tourism analyses to guide strategic decisions.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in strategic marketing and a track record of successful tourism promotion.
- Exceptional communication skills and a demonstrated ability to forge strong community connections.
- Proficiency in budget management and grant writing, enhancing the impact of tourism projects.
- Creative flair and a knack for crafting compelling marketing campaigns.
- Adeptness in leveraging various media channels for effective tourism promotion.
- Commitment to staying abreast of industry trends through active participation in relevant events and workshops.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, advertising, management or public relations, with a minimum of five (5) years successful experience in destination marketing, tourism development, integrated communications or public relations; or any combination of training and experience which provides required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Must have a valid driver’s license with the ability for occasional overnight travel.
