More than 560,000 people are employed in Ohio's travel and tourism industry. Tourism brings in $9.4 billion in wages in Ohio.
Direct taxes from tourism spending generates more than $2 billion.
a. Direct State Taxes: $1.4 billion
b. Direct Local Taxes: $702 million
Ohio has a diverse tourism product. It includes the Lake Erie shore, Amish country, large cities, theme parks, cultural/historical attractions, nature, educational attractions and more.
Ohio's brand, "Ohio, So Much to Discover" incorporates Ohio's diversity and establishes Ohio as a travel destination. But we need more funding to promote and market it to potential visitors.
