Ohio Open Doors

Explore Ohio’s buildings and landmarks virtually.

Help Ohioans discover your community’s amazing heritage. Become a host site for Ohio Open Doors–a 10 day event when Ohio historic buildings and landmarks open their doors for special tours and events. Create a special an event for your neighbors: think of your event as an opportunity to invite your friends and neighbors inside your doors to share your site’s unique stories.

With cases of COVID-19 increasing in the state, the State of Ohio issued a new public health advisory system to communicate the severity of the virus’ spread. The health advisory system includes four colors which indicate the risk level for each county. The Ohio History Connection is using this new data system to guide our decisions.

We are excited to still have Ohio Open Doors taking place this year, with some modifications. We will be accepting virtual events or in-person events that are outdoor, self-guided or outdoor with staff/volunteer involvement only. All in-person, outdoor events must follow county public health guidelines.

In addition to hosting virtual content from the full range of historic places and special landmarks, this year, we’d like to especially highlight Ohio’s unparalleled collection of historic theatres and opera houses.

Event Ideas

  • Photos, videos and stories of your location
  • Guest blog posts
  • Cell phone video tours
  • Live virtual talks and or sharing pre-existing content
