The Ohio Development Services Agency is looking for a leader for the state tourism office, TourismOhio.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in consumer marketing. The job involves working with consumer insights and market research to capitalize on the unique experiences that Ohio offers. The primary responsibility is to grow Ohio’s strong experiential visitor brand: Ohio. Find It Here. You will be expected to increase brand recognition among the general public and identify opportunities to develop private and public partnerships that encourage others to adopt the brand in their marketing. He or she must work with local and regional destination marketing organizations to convey distinctive experiences in Ohio.
The leader of TourismOhio must be able to maximize the taxpayer dollars in purchasing advertising, public relations and creative production; effectively use paid and earned media to increase reach and frequency of the brand message. This position is responsible for managing the business of the state tourism office, in conjunction with support staff and working within the structure of the state economic development agency. This includes managing contracts with external vendors.
The successful candidate must demonstrate experience in innovative tactics that obtain maximum exposure at minimum cost; engage consumers and drive them to convert to purchasers. He or she should lead the TourismOhio staff to build and execute marketing campaigns that sell visitors on distinctive places and experiences which are unique to Ohio.
