Funding Opportunities for Outdoor Recreation Enhancements Opens

Interest in outdoor activities shows no signs of slowing down, and Ohio offers what travelers are seeking - trails, outdoor recreational areas and pristine areas filled with natural splendor. Investing in outdoor activities has perhaps never been more important.   

Several granting opportunities to enhance Ohio's network of trails and natural areas are now open.

The Clean Ohio Trail Fund provides funding for land acquisition for new trails and connecting trails. The deadline is April 15, 2022.

The Recreational Trails Program provides funding for urban trail linkages, trail head and trailside facilities; maintenance of existing trails; restoration of trail areas damaged by usage; improving access for people with disabilities; acquisition of easements and property; development and construction of new trails; purchase and lease of recreational trail construction and maintenance equipment; environment and safety education programs related to trails. The deadline is April 15, 2022. 

Storybook Trails Funding will also be available this year. The deadline is June 15, 2022. Applications are not available yet, but the link to the 2021 application is available so you can get a sense of the requirements. 

Natureworks funding can be used for the acquisition, development, and rehabilitation of recreational areas. The deadline is June 1, 2022.
