Marketing Specialist

Position Summary:

The Marketing Specialist of the Wayne County Convention and Visitors Bureau (WCCVB) works closely with the Executive Director to market Wayne County as a premier tourism destination.

This position is responsible for promoting Wayne County, Ohio as a tourist destination by developing, planning, organizing, and overseeing tourism marketing and promotion programs to drive hotel and leisure sales and tax revenues. The Marketing Specialist is primarily responsible for social media, content creation, and e-mail marketing. This includes becoming the voice of the Wayne County Convention and Visitors Bureau through the management of its social media channels and ensuring brand integrity throughout its messaging and marketing. The Marketing Specialist reports directly to the Executive Director.

Essential Functions:

  • Represent the Convention and Visitors Bureau in a professional manner
  • Manage the social media presence of the WCCVB and responsible for all aspects of social media and internet advertising and marketing including, but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Youtube, etc.
  • Creating website articles for WCCVB website by tracking frequently asked questions about Wayne County and creating topics based on these questions
  • Work with guest influencers to participate in content creation that promotes Wayne County as a premier tourist destination
  • Create and update sample itineraries for leisure and group travel
  • Create editorial calendar of content for all WCCVB social media channels
  • Track partner pages to engage with and share content when applicable
  • Engage with followers of WCCVB social media accounts and answer questions/comments as needed
  • Craft monthly e-newsletters that promote Wayne County both internally and externally
  • Manage WCCVB google ads account or work closely with a trusted third party
  • Consistently track travel influencers and online travel publications for partnership
  • Create FAM tours for selected journalists and influencers which includes writing and updating agreements, scheduling lodging for influencers, creating experiences, and final reports from influencer trips
  • Curates and collects images and video that the WCCVB can employ on social media channels
  • Coordinates WCCVB website and ensures website content is consistent with WCCVB marketing campaigns and style
  • Creates special website pages and social media content for paid partnerships
  • Participates in writing press releases and editing and proof reading various reports, memos, and documents
  • Coordinates the use of outside vendors to develop marketing and communications materials as needed
  • Supplies vendors, journalists, and influencers with photo and video content as needed
  • Works closely with all WCCVB advertising partners
  • Assists Executive Director with development and execution of WCCVB marketing plan, business plan, and annual budget
  • Assists Office Administrator with creation of annual visitor’s guide
  • Assists Office Administrator with execution of booth at Wayne County Fair
  • Serve as representative of the WCCVB and assist with daily operations as assigned
  • Event set up and support as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Director

Preferred Education and Experience

  • One year of professional level work experience in marketing, communications, social media, or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • High level of proficiency in full Microsoft Office Suite and Social Media Channels
  • Strong communication skills
  • Engaging and professional writing skills
  • Strong social media presence or have experience managing social media channels for business or non-profit
  • Basic proofreading and editing skills
  • Ability to self-motivate and manage tasks independently
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent customer service skills, friendly and can engage and offer assistance to visitors of our community

Work Environment

  • Typical work schedule is full-time, Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Occasionally will work more hours as deemed necessary by Executive Director
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must use eyes, ears, hands, and fingers to perform assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Role is performed primarily indoors, but could require time spent working outdoors in extreme temperatures including heat, cold, temperature swings, and inclement weather

Benefits Overview

  • Vacation leave of 10 days per year, increasing to 15 days after five years of employment and 20 days after 10 years of employment.
