Job Title: Marketing & Experience Specialist

Reports To: Executive Director of the MCVCB

Position Type: Full Time Exempt

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for developing and implementing marketing, attending tradeshows, and creating experiences as it relates to the group, sports, and leisure travel market in Miami County. Responsibilities also include producing advertising and content in line with the Miami County brand; establishing and cultivating relationships/partnerships with MCVCB Board members, stakeholders and other community and regional organizations; and promoting Miami County events, programs, and experiences to potential visitors to increase visitation to the area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing

• Works with the Executive Director to provide input in preparation of the annual budget and marketing plan.

• Maintains working knowledge of the attractions, hotels, museums, restaurants, local shops, and other services available in the area for visitors.

• Identifies experiences and events most appealing to visitors.

• Provide input in the design, writing, and features for the visitor guide. Deliver visitor guides as needed.

• Works with the Executive Director to determine the MCVCB’s participation in the TourismOhio Co-op including messaging, coordinating details for photo and video shoots and scheduling/content of paid search, eblasts, etc.

• Obtains photos and videos from area partners for use in Visitors Bureau promotion of their programs and assets.

• Provide support in the development of press releases, blogs, magazine articles, and social media promotion. Assist with social media posting as needed.

• Monitor current marketing and visitor trends and current best practices for social media and digital marketing.

• Ensure a consistent brand message is conveyed across all marketing and promotional media.

• Assist in the development of new projects/programs such as trails, maps, and other brochures to forward our mission and continue to grow Miami County’s visitor economy.

Outreach

• Maintain good working relationships with tourism partners, the business community, and government officials

• Meets with area partners to ensure they are aware of the benefits available through the MCVCB efforts and that they are being represented appropriately.

• Attends group and sports marketplaces and other tradeshows and provides timely follow-up with operators, event organizers, and group stakeholders.

• Make tour operator and event owner sales contacts via phone, email, and in-person.

• Develop itineraries and coordinate tours between operators and area suppliers for group and leisure travel markets.

• Produce Package Travel Planner and Sports Travel Planner and maintain updated database and files of all contacts.

• Create itineraries and coordinate tours with bloggers/influencers within the industry.

• Respond to all customer inquiries in a timely and courteous fashion.

Events

• Attend community events, festivals, and partner functions as needed to represent and promote Miami County.

• Provide assistance with the promotion and execution of MCVCB sponsored events.

• Communicate with Miami County hotels and secure room blocks for various events in the area.

• Be involved with the planning/marketing for specific community events that drive high visitation to the area.

Other Duties

• Collaborate with the MCVCB team to plan and executive initiatives within the county.

• Greet visitors and answer phones.

• Participate in regular professional development and training.

• Special Projects as assigned by the Executive Director.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university or equivalent experience in sales, marketing, or related field.

• Ability to work in a team environment and provide creative ideas and solutions, including identifying important trends within the industry.

• Superior time management, organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.

• Possess excellent written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and a keen attention to detail.

• Self-motivated and eager to be challenged and initiate projects and opportunities.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

• Experience with and understanding of social media and social media marketing.

• Must have reliable transportation and flexibility for travel related business, including some evenings and weekends.

• Must be able to lift 35+ pounds and carry cartons of brochures and visitor related publications.

• Regular attendance is necessary and is essential to meeting the expectations of the position.

• Experience in graphic design, web content management and/or photography a plus.
