Education Outreach Coordinator

The Canton Museum of Art seeks an energetic art educator to help plan, coordinate, and implement various educational and outreach programming. This is a part-time hourly position (not exceeding 17.5hrs/week). This position is in the Education Department, and reports to the Education Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Develop and implement educational content and programs both on site and out into the community through informational booths, hands on activities, art lessons, presentations, digital content, and other opportunities to educate the public about CMA exhibitions, tours, and museum programs.

  • Expand the reach of public awareness by cultivating new strategic partnerships and strengthening current collaborative relationships with schools and the community.

  • Assist in researching and programming relevant speakers, artists, and instructors for educational programs and presentations.

  • Create educational virtual content on behalf of the education department.

  • Utilize evaluation tools to measure, interpret, and analyze the outcomes of education outreach activities and programs relative to strategic goals.

  • Collaborate across CMA departments for family days, School’s Out FREE Mondays, and private and public events at the museum and offsite locations.

  • Work with the Curatorial Department to research content related to CMA’s permanent collection and exhibitions to develop educational resource and lesson plans.

  • Work with the Marketing Department to develop marketing materials for educational programs, educators, and the community.

  • Work with the Development Department to find and create funding opportunities for future education outreach programming and grant reporting.

  • Work with the Finance Department to ensure detailed financial records and budget.

  • Work with the Education Department to assist with strategic planning and other educational programming as needed.

  • Participate in CMA activities, events, meetings, and programs as needed.

  • Perform all duties according to established CMA operating, safety, and quality policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Outgoing “people person” with strong written and oral communications skills is a must.

  • At least one year experience with teaching and/or presenting to groups required.

  • Educator License preferred.

  • Part time schedule is very flexible, however, must be available for occasional evenings/weekends according to event scheduling.

  • Creative problem solver with ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Dependable, self-motivated, and organized.

  • Strong ability to write, research, and analyze various sources of information and documents.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects/activities simultaneously.
