Sales Manager

At Cincinnati USA Convention and Visitors Bureau it’s our job to promote our great destination. With revitalization and energy throughout our area we’re pleased show off our city. We are seeking a full-time sales manager who will be responsible for selling to the religious, fraternal and ethnic markets to book meetings and conventions in Cincinnati and surrounding Hamilton County. 
 
The Sales Manager for this market is responsible for sourcing new business, developing relationships with clients, and managing periodic client “touches” to manage a pipeline of potential business. 
 
Specifically, you will
  • Generate convention center and hotel bookings. 
  • Vigorously prospect for new business to create and maintain your client base.  Identify and develop target customers.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date knowledge of Cincinnati’s facilities and selling points and how to use that information to sell against the competition.
  • Prepare and present sales (written or oral) presentations to customer boards or site selection committees.  Coordinate and conduct site tours.
  • Manage your data base of existing and potential business.
  • Attend industry tradeshows, sales trips, and networking events to solicit convention business. Includes pre-planning, collaborating with Marketing on collateral, selecting target customers, and coordinating pre-and-post show distributions.
  • Manage spending to stay within budget.
Requirements:
  • Education / Experience: 
- Hotel sales or CVB experience preferred
- BA/BS degree (or equivalent related experience)
- Minimum of three years selling experience
  • Excellent administrative skills and follow-up skills.
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Ability to think critically/logically in order to evaluate each sales opportunity and discern next steps to keep process moving forward.
  • Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, internet browsers, and e-mail systems.
  • Good speaking and listening skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Ability to be adaptable, flexible, and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Willing and able to work evenings, weekends and holidays based on client, trade show, and office demands
  • Ability to interact with others, both in person and through phone, e-mail, and written correspondence
