General Purpose of Job
The Director of Sales and Marketing (DOSM) will strategically implement sales and marketing programs to achieve rental sales goals for the VMCC, Allen County Agricultural Society and other publicly owned venues of Allen County. The DOSM will be responsible for developing programs and strategies that improve market penetration and increase sales throughout the year on behalf of said publicly owned venues. The DOSM will spend considerable time promoting the use of the VMCC and the Allen County Fair Grounds, alongside other publicly owned venues in every creative way possible to maximize use of the facilities and tourism impact for Allen County.
The ideal candidate will be a self-driver who is not opposed to an energetic work and travel schedule and with the ability to take a project from start to execution. Those with experience in start-ups who thrive in a creative and entrepreneurial environment rather than a structured and established work environment are best suited for this position.
Must be detailed oriented, creative, personable, articulate and a creative problem solver. Must have strong organizational skills to manage several projects at various stages of activity. Desire to be a part of a great company and the drive to work for great results is a must. Extensive travel may be required to achieve job expectations.
Bachelor’s Degree; five to seven years proven success and experience in sales, marketing, or business development. Preferred experience in hospitality, convention or exhibition sales. Must have a computer background with extensive knowledge and daily use of MS Office, digital communications, and CRM software. Hands on knowledge of brand marketing, creative design and organizational skills preferred.
