Job Title: Director of Communications
Reports To: Vice President of Marketing & Visitor Services
Supervises: Communications Coordinator
The Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau is an aggressive sales, marketing and service organization whose primary responsibility is to positively impact Hamilton County's and the City of Cincinnati's economy through convention, trade show and visitor expenditures. Travel and tourism is a $4.4 billion industry in Cincinnati USA, employing 74,000 people in a variety of fields and, historically, bringing 24 million visitors to the region annually.
Duties & Responsibilities include:
- Develops and manages annual strategic communications plan in coordination with the CVB Annual Sales and Marketing Plan, to support the organization’s mission
- Builds connections with local and regional media contacts to continue the CVB’s positioning as a regional community leader and DMO, and reinforcing and impact of travel and tourism on the regional economy
- Leads both consumer and trade media outreach to establish awareness and increase media coverage of Cincinnati USA as a nationally-renowned destination, including media missions, press trip coordination and collaborating with lead-generating agencies and partners
- Leads the CVB’s media engagement strategy, serving as the primary media contact and distributing media opportunities to appropriate CVB spokesperson. Provides CVB leadership with insight and direction on media opportunities
- Oversees stakeholder communications, including member and partner newsletters and updates
Requirements:
- Education / Experience:
- BA/BS degree
- Minimum 10 years related experience in public relations, media engagement and/or corporate communications
- Ability to demonstrate successful development and execution of strategic communications plans
- Excellent leadership, communication and organizational skills
- Maintain a commitment to professionalism, excellence and integrity
