CITIES ON TOP AS DESTINATIONS TO VISIT AMONG AMERICANS; SAFETY A CONCERN, PARTICULARLY AMONG THOSE FROM RURAL AREAS, BOOMERS AND WITH ACCESSIBILITY CHALLENGES
Key findings from Destination Analyst, Jan. 18:
- Historically, beach destination among Americans would bring the most excitement while traveling. However, cities are rising back to the top with 26% of Americans saying they plan to prioritize visiting a city in the next 12 months.
- After cities, Americans stated they would be visiting small towns. After small towns, Americans said they would be visiting beach destinations.
- Americans still struggle with perception of safety and crime.
- One-in-five travelers also feel that cities, in America, will become more dangerous and unmanageable. This feeling is most common among baby boomers.
- 22% of those residing in rural areas have this fear
- 24% of those who travel with someone who has a disability share this fear as well
