Director of Sales and Relationship Management:

POSITION PURPOSE:

We believe that a successful sales team has great connections with customers and each other. They are also quick to connect while building and creating relationships. The ability to develop these effective and long-term relationships with key industry partners is paramount to the Director of Sales and Relationship Management position. Some partner examples include - but are not limited to - key attractions, the hotel association, national and statewide associations, top 1,000 employers in the Toledo Region and visitors to the region. The ideal candidates will be outgoing, people oriented and persuasive and will have the ability and drive to take initiative and get things done. The position requires high energy, innovation and a positive response to pressure. The Director of Sales and Relationship Management is a strategic leader that serves as the ambassador of tourism for Lucas County and the Toledo Region.

POSITION SCOPE:

This position works in coordination with the CEO and team of six additional employees to ensure an effective and integrated sales and customer relationship program that fulfills strategic objective established by Destination Toledo (DT). This position interacts with members of the hotel, tourism and business community; represents DT at national conferences and trade shows, as well as on local, state, regional and national boards and committees.

MAJOR JOB DIMENSIONS:

  1. Develop, lead, and manage a direct sales program with a focus on building relationships within the service area of DT and the tourism and travel industry.
  2. Develop and manage comprehensive personnel and program performance reporting and forecasting system to accurately establish budgets, monitor and track impact, results and trends.
  3. Determine realistic goals and incentives and provide performance appraisals for direct reports.
  4. Provide leadership and direction and act as a mentor to further the development and growth of direct reports.
  5. Work closely with the CEO and Marketing to develop integrated processes and procedures.
  6. Manages a complete automated account management system.
  7. Public speaking and presenting

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL SET:

  • Think strategically as well as tactically
  • Build effective consensus within a diverse team
  • Understanding of financial management, budgeting and resource management
  • Lead development and execution of sales plans, sales skills and sales strategies
  • Detailed knowledge of hotel and convention center operating procedures and business practices
  • Strong knowledge of tourism or sales industry, convention, and general pricing negotiation practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a supervisory capacity with hands on experience in Marketing /Sales
  • Automated Account Management Systems – DT utilizes the iDSS system
  • Budgeting and Business Planning
  • Public Speaking
  • Thorough working knowledge of PC systems and Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Willingness and availability to travel often
