Travel means big business in Ohio. Tourism is the third-largest industry in the state and contributes to the Ohio economy in a number of important ways.
Tourism in Ohio:
-
Generates more than $33 billion annually
-
Employs more than 560,000 people
-
Brings in $9.4 billion in wages
-
Generates more than $2 billion in direct taxes ($1.4 billion Direct State Taxes and $702 million in Direct Local Taxes)
Ohio has a diverse tourism product. It includes the Lake Erie shore, Amish country, large cities, theme parks, cultural/historical attractions, nature, educational attractions and more.
Ohio's brand, "Ohio, So Much to Discover" incorporates Ohio's diversity and establishes Ohio as a travel destination. But we need more funding to promote and market it to potential visitors.
