Perfect Pitch Trains Industry and Connects Attendees to Large Media Contacts

One Day Workshop Focuses on Media Training

The 2017 Perfect Pitch was a huge success. From morning training with Inspire PR Group to hearing from panelists representing TourismOhio, Cleveland.com, The Columbus Dispatch, Ohio Magazine and The Traveling Praters, attendees learned about today's media given online and social media technology. This one day workshop provided attendees with the training necessary for their business while also connecting them during in-person appointments. In the morning, attendees heard from Katie Sabatino with Inspire PR Group regarding engaging with today’s media. This comprehensive and interactive media training session covered everything from understanding the role of media, how to identify newsworthy stories in the travel industry, how social media fits into the mix, and how to respond when a crisis occurs. Katie also provided helpful tips on interviewing with reporters to help attendees stay on message.

The panel represented a magazine, newspaper, online publication, blogger and the state tourism office. During the discussion, panelists talked about interacting with media companies via online and social media platforms. They also discussed changing demands in story sharing. Recent trends and best practices were highlighted by the experts.

After the morning training and working lunch, attendees met with representatives from Great Lakes Publishing, Cleveland Plain Dealer, Dayton Daily News, The Columbus Dispatch, The Traveling Praters, Akron Life Magazine, AAA, Midwest Living and Cincinnati Magazine. These appointments focused on story ideas, developing relationships and the promotion of the stories. While waiting for appointments, attendees heard from several round table discussions including the topics of practicing their pitch, how smaller entities can engage stories with media and staying relevant on social media with Ohio History Connection and Inspire PR Group.
