Travel and Tourism Trainer

The Affinion Group has a new and exciting opportunity in our training department for someone with a passion for tourism.

The Training Specialist will deliver learning solutions in a manner that engages the learner and produces desired outcomes; manage and respond to learner needs; ensure that the learning solution is made available or delivered in a timely and effective manner.  Prepare for training delivery; deliver various learning methodologies; encourage participation and build learner motivation; facilitate learning; establish credibility as an instructor and create a positive learning climate to ensure learning outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Learn and deliver curriculum for business units as necessary.
  • Act as an internal learning consultant for assigned business units; assist in identifying departmental training needs by conducting needs analysis under the supervision of the Manager of Learning and Development.
  • Deliver recurrent training and cross training courses as needed.
  • Assist with evaluating training programs to improve the effectiveness of the new hire classes.
  • Provide on-going coaching, monitoring, and follow up with trainees from all classes according to program requirements.
  • Assist with the analysis, design, development, and improvement of course materials.
  • Participate in special projects, such as product launches and training initiatives.
  • The work is performed in a general office environment. May require availability for extended and non-traditional hours during peak periods.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous corporate training experience required.
  • Travel industry experience, especially as a travel agent and/or travel agent trainer required.
  • Working knowledge of appropriate technology, travel industry GDS helpful (Worldspan, Apollo, Sabre).
  • Previous experience in a customer/sales focused environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to train, develop and motivate others.
  • Familiarity with adult learning theory and technical training methods.
  • Experience with researching and developing training materials desired.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Ability to prioritize, effectively manage resources, and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to pass certifications in MAGIC®, Tools for Trainers Excellence®, Affinion curriculum, and any additional trainer certifications as outlined by the Affinion Group Training Department.
