Position Summary
The Visitor Information & Registration Specialists will provide visitors and clients with an extraordinary impression of Experience Columbus and the Columbus destination. The Visitor Information & Registration Specialists are deployed as needed and have two primary responsibilities: to provide visitor information and to staff registration tables at conventions.

Visitor Information
The Visitor Information & Registration Specialists will staff information tables, booths, and visitor centers when needed. The responsibilities include greeting visitors via telephone, email, and in person; answering and directing calls; responding to questions; anticipating needs; and maintaining visitor information resources. The Visitor Information & Registration Specialist will determine visitor interests and suggest suitable attractions, dining, lodging, and shopping in an attempt to create a superb experience and to increase visitor spending and room nights.

Registration Assistance
The Visitor Information & Registration Specialist will staff registration tables at conventions as needed. The responsibilities vary depending on the convention, but generally include working with convention clients, greeting convention attendees, registering convention attendee information, handing out convention supplies and other registration oriented tasks.

Duties
•Provide a friendly and knowledgeable voice when answering questions via phone, email, or in person.
•Greet and direct visitors within a convention space, hotel and the city at large.
•Qualify a visitor to learn about their tastes and interests; suggest appropriate dining, shopping, and attractions in Columbus.
•Anticipate visitor needs and provide insider tips for experiencing Columbus.
•Use tools like the Experience Columbus Visitor Guide and iPads to provide visitors with answers and literature.
•Register convention attendees at check-in locations.
•Maintain the orderliness of the work space, whether a table, booth or visitor center.
•Maintain the stock of Visitor Guides, Visitor Maps, brochures, or client collateral.
•Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications
Professionalism in communicating with the public; excellent customer service skills; abundant knowledge of Greater Columbus, its attractions, events and activities; telephone etiquette; ability to work without supervision; basic computer troubleshooting skills and willingness to learn to use an iPad.

Hours
The shifts for this position are flexible; the Visitor Information & Registration Specialists are only deployed at conventions or events as needed. Certain months may need dozens of shifts, and certain months have none. The majority of the shifts for this position occur during the day on weekdays. Total hours per year can range from 40 - 300.
